Nicola di Croce is an architect, musician, sound artist, and scholar. He holds a PhD in Regional planning and public policies, and is currently Postdoctoral research fellow at Iuav University of Venice, Italy.
His research deals with the relationship between Urban Studies and Sound Studies. In particular, and his interest is focused in collaborative and participatory approach to urban policy analysis and design through methodologies emerging within Sound Studies and Sound Art practice. His primary concern relates to critical listening of urban sonic environment as carrier of knowledge, useful for the acknowledgment of urban issues affecting vulnerable areas and citizens.
Nicola intends to develop a research method able to inquiry critical issues concerning urban and cultural transformations, such as depopulation, segregation, and expiration of local identities and intangible cultural heritages.
Through articles, lectures, field recordings, performances, installations, and listening sessions he aims to foster sonic awareness, as an empowerment tool for institutions, and local communities, thus exploring new potentials for urban regeneration, participatory processes and local Development.
